Just Wishing and Hoping

November 29th, 2007

It’s post-Thanksgiving and auditions are in full swing again! The stuffings’ run out, but not the work. So far, I’ve had printwork, voiceover and theater auditions everyday this week- including two tomorrow. I had especially high hopes for today’s stage audition for two reason. First of all, the opportunity to get back to theater was exciting. Secondly, I was called in by a casting agent that I met a few months ago at another audition and whom I was thrilled to see again. Unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned. It was like this: there were two pages sent to me to use in the audition- one with dialogue and one with a monologue. For some reason I misunderstood and thought that I was supposed to read the dialogue. I’m not sure why I thought this, but I did. I realize now how foolish that was. Anyway, as a result, when I went in to audition I ended up holding the script while performing. I felt so confused and ashamed by this that it threw me off and I ended up stopping in the middle and asking to start over. I probably worsened things by then apologizing for studying the wrong portion of the script. I felt bad about this, too, upon leaving because I’ve heard over and over that you should never apologize in auditions. Ah! The rules are so many in this world. I think I recovered and did well after starting over. Luckily, I had rehearsed the monologue at home just not to the point of memorization. What I’m worried about is that I shot my chances with the casting agent. I don’t want her to feel disappointed in me… The good news is, tomorrow is a new day right?

NEWSFLASH: Albytes is officially coming back next week! December will re-inaugurate my brand new season of podcasts. Yes, I will have regular weekly shows once again! I was talking to my friend Curry last night and she reminded me of my very own positive thinking mantra. So to kick off a brand new wave of positive karma I leave you with this smile. Let it remind us that if you believe it, you will achieve it. Yeah, it’s cheesy. But I swear it works!!!
