P.R. for Me!

April 14th, 2007

It’s true, I ran a PR today in the Brooklyn Half-Marathon! Well, yes, it is also true that is my first and only marathon in life so far. But come on, I’m supposed to celebrate the good times right? hehe. Anyway, I discovered today that I think I really enjoy running half-marathons. They are the perfect match for me: A hefty challenge, yet one that I can still feel well enough to chat with my running partner during and have fun. I’m sure a full marathon could provide some of that for me too. But somehow I don’t know that it would be the same feeling of fun, seeing as how I was feeling pretty ready to stop today at mile 13. Anyhow, I’ve decided that the the Half-Marathon embodies just how I like to live life: seeking a challenge; pushing past the tough moments; going above and beyond what I thought I could do; finding the joy, pleasure in the moment; taking time to enjoy my company. Rich and I have already signed up for the Manhattan Half-Marathon lottery. This feels like the beginning of a new hobby. Best part? I will get to spend more time with my hubby while we train. Yay Brooklyn Marathoners and all the the runners out there! Ahhh… okay, gotta go ice my knees.
